Geweke Ford - 2023 Ford Explorer
With its strong engine lineup and impressive cabin space, the Ford Explorer is one of the top SUVs on the market. One of the best things about the Explorer is its athletic exterior design to go with its performance. For the 2023 model year, the Explorer carries over without any significant changes other than a new paint color called Red Jewel Metallic. Here's a closer look at some of the details for the 2023 Ford Explorer.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Base Explorer comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and a power tailgate. Stepping up to the XLT adds heated side exterior mirrors and roof rails. The ST-Line is up next with 20-inch wheels, a black grille and black exterior trim elements, and power-folding side mirrors. Choose the Timberline for all-terrain tires, skid plates, and tow hook, the Limited for 20-inch alloy wheels, extra chrome trim, and power-folding exterior mirrors, or look at the ST for quad exhaust outlets and a sport-tuned suspension. The high-end King Ranch has a hands-free liftgate, and the Platinum adds 21-inch alloy wheels.
Engine (Power)
The base engine for the Explorer is a 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that puts out 300 horsepower. The higher-end models get a 3.0-liter turbo V-6 engine that generates 400 horsepower. You can also get the Explorer with a hybrid powertrain with a 3.3-liter V-6 gas engine and electric motors that deliver 318 horsepower. All Explorer models use a 10-speed automatic transmission, and most come standard with rear-wheel drive.
Performance
All Explorer models except the Timberline come with rear-wheel drive and offer all-wheel drive as an option. The Timberline comes standard with all-wheel drive, and this model with the four-cylinder engine will accelerate to 60 mph in just six seconds. The ST with the V-6 offers quicker acceleration and will get there even faster. When equipped, the Explorer can tow up to 5,600 pounds.
Interior
Inside, there's room for up to seven in the Explorer's three rows of seats. Cloth upholstery and a power-adjustable driver's seat come in the base trim, but you can get leather upholstery, heated front and second-row seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and ventilated front seats by moving up to a higher trim level. An 8-inch touchscreen comes standard in all trims along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but you can get a 10.1-inch touchscreen with the Technology Package for the Platinum or King Ranch. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is also available in the high trims, and these also have wireless charging.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Ford Explorer has advanced driver aids. These include automatic high beam headlights, forward collision warning with mitigation, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and rear parking sensors. You'll also get trailer sway damping, pedestrian detection, a driver attention monitor, and hill descent control. The XLT Technology Package comes with a surround-view camera system, and this trim, along with the higher-end models, offers Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ with adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and lane-keep assist. The Limited and above come with front parking sensors, and the top two trims have rear automatic braking.
