Powertrains and Hybrid Technology

The new 2020 Escape has a choice of Hybrid* or Plug-in Hybrid** with a 2.5L iVCT Atkinson-cycle hybrid engine. A 1.5L EcoBoost® and the 2.0L EcoBoost with Auto Start-Stop Technology are the available gas engines.

Introducing Ford Co-Pilot360™ — an advanced suite of standard driver-assist technologies that includes, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, Lane-Keeping System and Rear View Camera. Ford Escape also makes additional technology available that is designed to help keep you in command, from the driveway to the highway.
Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking This feature scans the road ahead and can alert you to potential collisions with vehicles or pedestrians detected in your path. If an impact is imminent and you don’t take corrective action, the brakes can apply automatically. * But don’t worry — they’ll only activate if they’re needed.
*Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection detects pedestrians, but not in all conditions, and can help avoid or reduce a collision.
BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert
BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert uses radar to identify if a vehicle is detected in your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the appropriate exterior mirror. Cross-Traffic Alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you as you’re slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway. If cross-traffic sensors detect a vehicle, you will be audibly and visually alerted.
Available Active Park Assist 2.0
Available Active Park Assist 2.0 Parking made easy — even in tight parallel or reverse perpendicular spots. When engaged, it can help locate a potential spot. Then all you have to do is brake to a complete stop, shift into Neutral and hold down the Active Park Assist button — your vehicle does the rest.

Rear View CameraThe Rear View Camera provides a great view of what’s behind your vehicle. Just make sure to keep the camera lens free of debris (like snow or dust) and you can navigate your vehicle in Reverse with confidence.
Evasive Steering Assist
Evasive Steering Assist This available feature can help make it easier to avoid a potential collision. It doesn’t steer for you, but it can provide extra steering support if the system warning goes off and you need to maneuver around the vehicle ahead.

Lane-Keeping System The Lane-Keeping System can help you stay in your lane, even during a moment of distraction. This feature scans your vehicle’s position between the lines in the road ahead and can alert you if you’re starting to edge out of your lane.

Auto High-Beam Headlamps
Auto High-Beam Headlamps Auto High-Beam Headlamps can sense poor lighting conditions and switch on to light your path ahead. They can even sense oncoming headlights and dim automatically, so you don’t have to worry about blinding other drivers.

Selectable Drive Modes

Designed to help improve your driving experience and handling on varying road surfaces. The different modes are Eco, Sport, Normal, Slippery and Deep Snow/Sand.10 Once selected, each one of these driving modes can modify the electronic stability control system and traction control system without you having to do anything.

Available AWD Disconnect

Designed to help save fuel, All-Wheel Drive Disconnect allows for the disconnection of the rear driveline when the system detects AWD is not needed. This allows only the front wheels to propel the vehicle, therefore reducing drag and the overall energy demands of the drivetrain.

Keep your eyes on the road. The available head-up display creates an image on a display screen in front of the driver on the windshield. This minimizes the distraction of having to look at the instrument panel.
